Still OnePlus 9 Pro will come with same water and dust resistance features

Days before the launch of the OnePlus 8 series, a water resistance leak appeared on the OnePlus 8 Pro. OnePlus made it real at the launch by launching the IP68 Water and Dust resistance first-device. The non-Pro does not come with an official IP ranking, although the OnePlus 8 Pro has it. Now, tipster Max Jambor is saying the same trend will continue with the OnePlus 9 collection.

The OnePlus 9 Pro would have the same IP68 water and dust resistance as its predecessor, according to Max. Given that it is a feature that businesses generally do not downgrade with iterations, this should not come as a surprise. In any event, Max also states that most of the OnePlus 9 and 9E would not have an actual IP rating.

If you are not aware, IP-rating is an IETC(International electro technical Commission) EN 60529 standard Ingress Protection Code. The degree of protection given to a mechanical/electrical enclosure is essentially awarded. The rating varies based on the kind and intensity of intrusion.

IP68, for example means that devices can handle dust, dirt, and sand. They are also resistant to submersion for up to thirty minutes at a maximum depth of 1.5 m underwater. Anyway if the leak proves to be true, once again the OnePlus 9 series will only have an IP rating smartphone.

Besides, in the past, OnePlus phones have had water resistance, as mentioned above. But the company really didn’t get an official rating for IP. In reality, the additional cost burden was stated as the reason for the OnePlus 7 Pro. Not to mention that the official rating for the non-Pro (e.g. OnePlus 8 Verizon-exclusive) for carriers like Verizon shows that even the watered-down models have the necessary construction.

Anyway, we hope that to match the price-performance ratio, the OnePlus 9, 9E models do not compromise too much on the build quality. Talking about models, reports say this time there will be three models in the OnePlus 9 series. While OnePlus has already confirmed its Snapdragon 888 flagship series for H1 2021, leaks say the launch is around mid-March.

The OnePlus 9 will definitely have a flatter display (like the 8T) and the 9 pro will have a curved display with respect to the specs. Rumors say the former is a 6.65-inch screen, while the latter is a 6.72-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen. 65W Warp Charging, OxygenOS 11, dual-48MP cameras(OnePlus 9), and more are other anticipated features.
